I'm, like, almost a star!
c'est la vie cont.
c'est la vie
"I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is going to be revealed to us." Romans 8:18
i know paul wasnt writing about parenting (obviously, he was never a parent!), but i thought it was pertinent. and i thought that it was a very good reminder for when life seems to be throwing curve ball after curve ball that this is nothing compared to the joy and blessings and glory in store.
ok.. gotta get the crying baby. dont want to make him suffer. gonna go give him some glory.

Quitter
we went to SD yesterday. janelle & her group gave me a class on infant massage. jack did well. janelle has to train 5 families to get her certification, and she said we could be one of her families. woohoo!
we went to the zoo afterwards. saw the sea lion show. i was impressed. who knew a sea lion could dance? the weather was great. a little overcast and just shy of 70 degrees. the guys who sits by the exit and says "thank you" didnt think it was nice weather though. he blurted out "thanks for coming, and if you brought this weather with you on vacation, TAKE IT BACK!" i thought it was little harsh, and not so friendly.
today we are going to look at houses that will be up for auction at the local casino in a couple weeks. that's about it. will probably clean or something too. see ya later!

Maggilo
Fruit
Was so sad to not have coffee this morning. Everyone was traveling. Took Noah to the Dollar Tree instead. Got tinfoil, to-go foil dishes and a battery tester. (We have trouble keeping track of dead vs. charged batteries).
Dinner at Tiffany's tonight. Noah really enjoys playing with the Spelman4.
Going to SD tomorrow to learn infant massage. My friend is taking a course on how to teach it to parents, and I will be her first student. Going to also exchange Jack's Robee's @ bloomingdales. He's got big feet!
My big brother left for Iraq last night. I took it harder than I thought I would, and have a new found hate for this war. I am ALL for fighting for what is right, fighting to ensure OUR freedoms, and fighting for those who can't fight for themselves. But I am tired of watching my friends' husbands go overseas, watching children go day to day with their dad gone, and now, sending my brother off to fight this battle... a battle I'm not even sure what we're fighting for. I sincerely hope the Iraqi people gain freedom and rights from our efforts and the efforts of their own people. But who knows? Isn't that region destined for warfare. I guess I need to put it aside and just be sure to be on my knees, pleading for Colin's safe return. My mom is a wreck. I hope I never have to be her in this way.
Off to eat a plum!

Hello World!
I wanted my blog address to be Maggilo.whatever, but Maggilo was already taken. It's never taken. I'm going to have to scope out who this other Maggilo user is. Maggilo has been my fall back for 12 years now. It is the combination of the nickname of my middle name and the nickname of my first name. Lame. I know. Gimme a break though. I was in high school.
Had coffee this morning with the girls. Met a new girl, Stacey. Liked her. Missed Erin being there. She always laughs at my jokes. Her laugh is wonderfully infectious. And Jenn!! Where you at???!!! I love our friday coffee group. It is my constant. Wish Tiffany would come. It always reminds me of the perfect platform for a book or a movie. That's one of my life goals- write a book.
Trevor says my emails are too wordy. I wonder if my blogs will be too wordy. Probably.
Recipe for the french toast thing i made for coffee this morn:
INGREDIENTS
1 stick (1/2 cup) unsalted butter
1 cup packed brown sugar
2 tablespoons corn syrup
An 8- to 9-inch round loaf country-style bread
5 large eggs
1 1/2 cups half-and-half
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 tablespoon orange juice
1/4 teaspoon salt
DIRECTIONS
In a small heavy saucepan melt butter with brown sugar and corn syrup over moderate heat, stirring, until smooth and pour into a 13- by 9- by 2-inch baking dish. Cut six 1-inch thick slices from center portion of bread, reserving ends for another use, and trim crusts. Arrange bread slices in one layer in baking dish, squeezing them slightly to fit.
In a bowl whisk together eggs, half-and-half, vanilla, Grand Marnier, and salt until combined well and pour evenly over bread. Chill bread mixture, covered, at least 8 hours and up to 1 day.
Preheat oven to 350° F and bring bread to room temperature.
Bake bread mixture, uncovered, in middle of oven until puffed and edges are pale golden, 35 to 40 minutes.
Serve hot French toast immediately.
